If you've been in private practice for at least 12 months, the Heard Summer Setup Grant could help you invest $2,000 into the next phase of your practice. Here's everything you need to know.
What is the Summer Setup Grant?
Heard is giving $2,000 each to five mental health providers in private practice, plus 70% off an annual Heard plan. The grant is meant to help you use the summer slowdown to move your practice forward, whether that's a certification, a website overhaul, a group practice launch, supervision hours, or new tools.
Applications opened on May 12, 2026 (Mental Health Provider Day) and close on June 12, 2026.
Grant Eligibility
To apply, you need to be:
- A licensed mental health provider (therapist, counselor, social worker, psychologist, psychiatrist, or psychiatric nurse practitioner)
- In private practice for at least 12 months
- Practicing in the U.S. (50 states and D.C.)
- Set up a business checking account to receive the funds
Group practice owners qualify if they meet the 12-month threshold and are licensed providers themselves.
What can I spend the $2,000 on?
Anything that moves your practice forward. The money is deposited into your business checking account as a lump sum. There are no restrictions and no receipts to submit.
Common examples of what providers use grant funds for:
- A new certification like EMDR, IFS, Gottman, or somatic training
- Website refresh, SEO support, or a professional headshot
- Group practice setup
- Supervision hours toward licensure or a new specialty
- Office or virtual office setup
- EHR, scheduling, or billing software
