Overview
This article provides step-by-step instructions if you have filed (or are about to file) your Utah individual income tax return (Form 1040) and need to pay income tax. There are two ways to pay income tax login in or create an account, or make a payment without an account.
Important Note: Utah does not require quarterly estimated tax payments for individual income tax.
Make a payment with an account
- Go to https://tap.utah.gov/
- On the top right of the page, enter your username and password and click Sign in.
- To create an account, click Sign Up.
- Follow the instructions to submit payment.
Online Payment
- Visit the Utah State Tax Commission's Taxpayer Access Point (TAP) at https://tap.utah.gov/.
- Under "Payments," choose your preferred payment method:
- Make e-Check Payment: Enter your bank account information for a direct debit.
- Make Credit Card Payment: Enter your credit card details.
- Enter your personal and payment information as required.
- Tax Type: Individual Income Tax
- ID Type: SSN (Enter your name or spouse's name)
- Payment Type: Return/Period Payment
- Filing Frequency: Annual
- Filing Period End Date: December 31st of the tax year you are filing for (e.g., December 31, 2024)
- Click "Add" to finalize your payment.
