In order to utilize phone/internet as a business deduction, you may only deduct the percentage of the expense in which the phone or internet is used for business use only.
If you are reflecting these expenses in Heard, you can use two methods:
- For expenses that aren't in your Heard account, you can manually upload an expense amount that only reflects your business use. For example, If your phone bill is $100, and you use your phone 25% for business use, you can add in an expense of -$25.
- If you have an expense already in Heard that you need to reduce to reflect your business use amount, you can let our team know, and we can "split" an already existing transaction for you. (Using the same example, we'll denote -$25 as a business expense and -$75 as a personal expense.)
