Overview
This article provides step-by-step instructions for paying the quarterly estimated tax in New Jersey.
Online Payment
- Go to: https://www.state.nj.us/treasury/taxation/index.shtml.
- On the right-hand side, click Pay Tax.
- You should automatically be directed to the "Individuals" tab.

Under "Option A," click Make a Payment.

From the "Individual Income Tax Payment and Filing." Enter your Social Security number (SSN) and date of birth to log in to the portal, then click Submit.
- Select Estimated Payments - Schedule/Submit NJ-1040-ES, then click Submit.

Make the following selections:
- Select: Pay NJ-1040-ES Estimated Payment - Single Payment by E-Check or Credit Card, then click Submit.
- Return Type: Resident Return
- Return Period: Defaults to "Jan to Dec"

Return Year: Defaults to current year
- Select the quarter for which the payment is to be applied, select "Payment Method," and enter "Amount of Payment," then click Submit.
- From there, follow the instructions to make a quarterly estimated tax or an income tax payment.
As a reminder, Heard cannot submit quarterly estimated tax for you, and you are responsible for paying it in a timely manner. We recommend saving any payment confirmations and checking your state's payment portal after submitting the payment to ensure it is reflected in your account. Please mark the quarterly tax payment as paid in Heard and upload a copy of your receipt.
